E141: How to train your quadcopter in Splash Spring 14 (Apr. 26, 2014)
Multirotors, from tricopters to quadcopters, hexes, octos, and all sorts of weird variants like Y6's, are increasingly popular for all sorts of robotics, RC, filming, and other purposes. What makes them work? Why have they become so popular now, but not before? What do you actually need to build one? What can you do with them? We'll look at how multirotors fly, how they're controlled and programmed, how to make them autonomous, and how to build one. We'll also discuss various cool things you can do with them. Finally, we'll put theory into practice with live quadcopter demos!
