What does it mean for a cat to be in a superposition of dead and alive? How can two distant objects be entangled with each other? Why could a quantum computer be so much more powerful than a classical one? Does our conscious experience comprise just one of many worlds which constantly branch off into different possible futures?
This course will cover the fundamentals of quantum mechanics and discuss its strange and beautiful implications for what kind of universe we live in. We will gain an appreciation for the mind-bending differences between how our brains expect the world to be and how it really is deep down. Some math is essential to understand the core principles of quantum mechanics, but we will use only as much as we need, and no more.
